Hospital Upgrades in the Works
Bond proposal for new Fulton State Hospital would cost $211M
A new Fulton State Hospital hinges on a massive new bonding proposal working its way through the Capitol. That's because the proposal for a new 300-bed, high-security hospital would cost $211 million. Mental Health Department officials say ditching the old building could save $3 million in utilities, staffing and worker's compensation. It would also make it a safer facility and opens up beds for treatment of sexually violent offenders.
