Jefferson City Public School officials decided Thursday night to continue with plans for one high school in the district. At a school board meeting, members voted to proceed with the plan to build an academy-style high school on a new campus. Officials also agreed on building a new elementary school. The district has already purchased land near the new St. Mary's Hospital site. Board members will put a 25 cent tax levy increase and a 30 cent bond increase on the April ballot for residents to vote on. If residents vote for the tax and bond increases, the high school and elementary school would open in the fall of 2016.
