Missouri not involved with investigation into death of Colorado's top corrections official
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri officials say the state is not yet involved in Colorado's investigation into the killing of its top corrections official.
Tom Clements was shot Tuesday night when he answered the front door his home north of Colorado Springs.
Clements worked in Missouri's prison system for more than 30 years. He was overseeing Missouri's 21 adult correctional facilities when he left in 2011 to become executive director of the Colorado Department of Corrections.
Officials with Missouri's Highway Patrol and Corrections Department said Thursday the agencies are not involved in any formal investigation of the killing, but will help if asked by Colorado authorities.
