UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (AP) — Construction of the long-anticipated Loop Trolley project is expected to start this summer now that the city council in University City has given the final go-ahead for the $43 million project.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1z4HvvH ) reports council members on Monday unanimously approved a trolley construction, maintenance and operations agreement and a permanent easement pact. Construction bid packages are now available for contractors.
Plans call for a 2.2-mile fixed-route electric trolley line linking the University City Loop to Forest Park in neighboring St. Louis. The route runs along Delmar Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue, between the History Museum in Forest Park and the University City Library.
