ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) — A suburban St. Louis man is accused of slamming his girlfriend's kitten against a wall and killing it.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1luonEj ) reports that 21-year-old Tyrell Devon Griffin of Florissant is charged with misdemeanor animal abuse. He is jailed on $10,000 bond and does not have an attorney.

Authorities say the incident happened in October but Griffin wasn't charged until this week. Police say Griffin and his girlfriend argued at apartment complex in St. Charles. Griffin allegedly grabbed the kitten in anger and threw it against a wall, then fled.

The girlfriend took the kitten to an animal hospital, but it died a short time later.
