2013: Three people are killed and more than 200 injured after two bombs go off within seconds of each other near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev were eventually identified as suspects, with Tamerlan dying following an April 19 shootout with police and Dzhokhar being captured after a manhunt in Watertown, Massachusetts, later the same day. Dzhokhar was found guilty on 30 counts on April 8, 2015, and is awaiting sentencing.
