2 injured in Jefferson City car crash

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Jefferson City police said two people from Chicago were sent to a local hospital after a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 54 late Saturday night.

Police said it happened in the 2300 block of U.S. 54 in the westbound lanes around 11:18 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the driver was attempting to pass another vehicle, but changed lanes too sharply, slid out of control and drove off the inside median and overturned.

All four people in the car told police they were wearing seat belts, police said.

The driver, Shaquille Wilder, 21, of Chicago, and the front seat passenger, Lawrence Harrell, Chicago, were transported to the hospital and treated for some minor and major injuries.

The two back-seat passengers were not injured.
