JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -

Jefferson City officials are hosting a public meeting Wednesday and Thursday to get public input about possible reductions to the city's transit service.

Jefferson City Administrator Nathan Nickolaus tells ABC 17 News the city has proposed reducing the transit budget by $55,000 for the 2013 fiscal year.

To meet that reduction, staff has proposed to stop JeffTran service from 11:20 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. daily. Therefore, service would only operate from 6:40 to 11:20 a.m. and from 2:40 to 6 p.m.

Residents will be allowed to speak at the meeting.

Thursday's meeting will take place at 3:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. in the Boone/Bancroft Room on the upper level at John G. Christy Municipal Building, 320 E. McCarty Street.
