A forensic anthropologist says two skulls found in central Missouri appear to be those of Native American women who died a long time ago.
The Callaway County Sheriff's Office released the anthropologist's findings Monday and does not suspect foul play.
A person walking in southern Callaway County earlier this month discovered a skull, a partial skull and an incomplete headstone along a creek bed on private property.
The sheriff's office says the complete skull is of a person who died when she was 20 to 25 years old.
Callaway County Sheriff Dennis Crane noted there have been several discoveries of human remains near the Missouri River, particularly after the 1993 flood washed out upstream cemeteries.
