COLUMBIA, Mo. - UPDATE: The Columbia Police Department confirmed it was investigating an attempted armed robbery in the 2900 block of Rangeline Street Tuesday.

According to police, a male victim was outside at the Colonial Village mobile home park when he was approached by a male suspect with a firearm. The suspect demanded money, but fled after the victim's dog attacked him.

ABC 17 News spoke with residents Tuesday night. They told ABC 17 News that they didn't hear or see anything happen, but two of them said dogs are a common sight throughout the park.

One woman said her dog serves as a helpful alarm if anyone comes to the door.

Tuesday night's incident is the fourth report of either an armed robbery or attempted armed robbery in the last three days.

Two robberies were reported on Sunday. One of them included a victim on Mexico Gravel Road who shot at two suspects before they could make it inside his home.

Police arrested a suspect in an attempted robbery that happened on Apple Tree Court overnight.

The suspect at Colonial Village is described as a black male, five-foot 11 inches tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
