Bar fight results in person being flown to hospital three others injured

COLE COUNTY, Mo. - UPDATE: The Cole County sheriff will be contacting the owners of the bar to ensure they are complying with liquor laws and other statutes.

Sheriff John Wheeler said there are a number of "issues" the department has had with "F and J Sports Bar & Grill." Wheeler said he will be sending the owners a letter to remind them of "the liability they hold if they don't start trying to... stop some of this activity that's going on."

The sports bar does not have a liquor license, and deputies have "been finding drug paraphernalia on the parking lot," according to Wheeler.

"We [want to] give them every opportunity. We want business to flourish (in Cole county)," Wheeler said. "But we also got to have businesses do so in a safe manner."

Wheeler also said he will ask the fire marshal to inspect the building, which he described as a "shack," in the near future.

ORIGINAL: Around 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Cole County deputies were called to "F and J Sports Bar & Grill" for reports of a fight, according to a statement. One person was flown from Capital Regional Medical Center to University Hospital for injuries they sustained during the fight inside the bar.

The statement released by Cole County Sheriff John Wheeler also said someone fired one round inside the bar. Wheeler said no one suffered a gunshot wound, but "debris from a ricochet injured [three individuals] inside the bar."

There were a total of four people injured, and deputies said none of the injuries were life-threatening. No arrests have been made, and the statement did not include any information on suspects.

Sheriff Wheeler said the investigation is ongoing.
