MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. - ABC 17 News confirmed Morgan County R-1 schools in Stover were briefly put on lockdown Friday after someone heard gunshots in town. The district says the alert was lifted minutes later after 1 p.m. when the possible threat was cleared.
ABC 17 News also spoke to Stover's chief of police, Trampus Jackson, who confirmed a local resident was sighting his deer hunting rifle on a nearby range that he owns. It is about 100 yards from the district's land, but he was not firing toward the school at any time.
