A normally quiet road in Howard County now has residents in the area concerned.
Howard County deputies are asking that all suspicious activity be reported. The request comes after two day-time home burglaries on Highway 240, west of Rocheport, that may be connected.
Residents along the road said they're shocked this happened in broad daylight.
"It was morning, like lunch area time, when they did it," said resident Lori Laverty. "Just real fast, in one, and then in the other one."
Laverty didn't see it happen, but said she wants people in the area to be aware of the issue.
"One house they didn't take anything, they just ransacked it, and I know in the second one they did take a few items of worth," she said.
Law enforcement is not disclosing what was taken right now.
Laverty said she has seen some suspicious activity along her part of the street from time to time.
"We have a lot of people park and talk on their phones because there's a dead area down there, and you never know," she said. "That's why I keep an eye on them."
And Laverty said she doesn't believe the burglaries were random.
"The houses were owned by the same family," she said.
And that's not the only coincidence.
"I know they had a camera in one of the houses, but the guy was clever enough to stay out of view," Laverty said.
The Howard County Sheriff's Department is encouraging anyone who may have seen or heard anything around the lunch hour on May 28 to call them.
