COLUMBIA, Mo. - Columbia Regional Airport held a celebration Wednesday afternoon to commemorate a second daily flight to Chicago through American Airlines.
City leaders spoke at the official ribbon cutting, including Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and Columbia Mayor Pro-Tem Barbara Hoppe.
Supporters note that the addition of the second daily flight to Chicago is a great addition to the local business community.
Veterans United Home Loans President of Strategic Operations Greg Steinhoff said in an advisory, "Chicago is clearly a top business destination for mid-Missouri. Having two flights a day presents substantial advantages in cost, convenience, and
reliability to those with meetings in Chicago. The additional connectivity that comes with O'Hare International is also big benefit. Flying out of Columbia is rapidly becoming 'first thought' in our business community."
The first flight leaves at 6:00 a.m. daily, and the second flight leaves at 1:40 p.m.
