COLUMBIA, Mo. - UPDATE 3 pm: A spokesperson for the Columbia police department said Swope was not the man trying to holster the gun. 

Police have not identified the other individual in the car at the time of the shooting.

ORIGINAL: Columbia police confirmed on Thursday that the 19-year-old man who was shot in a vehicle in the Columbia Mall parking lot has died. 

Police said detectives were notified on Monday that Jeffrey Dillon Swope had died from his injuries. 

The shooting happened on Nov. 23 when Swope and another man  were sitting inside a car when one of them discharged the gun while trying to holster the weapon. 

Police said no arrests have been made and the investigation is on-going.
