Man arrested for burglary, bribing police officers

COLUMBIA, Mo. - A man has been charged with burglary and bribing police after an incident early Friday morning.

Connor Deline was arrested for bribery of a public servant, first degree burglary, fourth degree assault misdemeanor and second degree property damage after Columbia police officers were called to a burglary in the 1400 block of Bouchelle Avenue early Friday morning.

The female victim said she was asleep in her home when she heard someone beating on her front door. The victim said she heard someone walking along the east side of the home toward the back door. The victim said she saw the subject at the back door and heard the glass break on the door.  She heard footsteps in the house and a male's voice saying, "calm down."

The victim said the suspect left without taking anything. Officers found blood on broken pieces of glass from the back door.

Officers said they saw a male wearing a light-colored shirt walking east on Bouchelle Avenue. They found Deline two blocks from the burglary with a cut on his right forearm, which was bleeding.

While officers were transporting Deline to the Boone County Sheriff's Department, he asked officers several times if he could pay them and drop him off at his house.
