Man robs Jefferson City business at gunpoint

Robber brandishes gun, robs check cashing business Thursday evening

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Police in the capital city are searching for man who robbed a check cashing business.

Just before 6 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to the Check n Go on Missouri Boulevard for an armed robbery.

Police say the suspect entered the business, showed a small handgun and demanded money. Employees gave the suspect money and he fled on foot.

Officers say a customer chased the suspect through a nearby shopping center, before losing sight of him. Police on the scene were unable to locate the robber.

The suspect is described as a black man with a light complexion, approximately 5'8" to 5'10" tall, and between 120-140 lbs. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark sweatshirt, a red ball cap and a mask pulled over his face.
