Shots fired overnight east of Columbia

Deputies say witness, victim statements don't add up

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Boone County Sheriffs deputies investigated a shots fired incident early Friday morning on St. Charles Road.

There were initial reports of several shots fired near the intersection of St. Charles and Remm Drive around 3:30 a.m.

Investigators found evidence of multiple shots fired at the scene.

A 24-year-old man reportedly heard the gunfire. Deputies later found a bullet hole in his car and multiple shell casings in the road.

Three female passengers in the victim car ran from the scene before deputies got there. Deputies told ABC 17 News victim and witness statements were not matching.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to leave an anonymous tip by calling CrimeStoppers at 875-TIPS.
