Suspect in custody after brief foot chase with Columbia police

COLUMBIA, Mo. - A sergeant with the Columbia Police Department confirms a person with a felony warrant was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after trying to flee from officers.

The sergeant said around 12:15 p.m. officers tried to pull over the suspect in his car because of his felony warrant. Police said the suspect took off running on foot. The chase eventually ended in the parking lot on North Providence.

The sergeant tells ABC 17 News the suspect is currently being investigated for possible weapons charges.

The suspects name has not yet been released.
