BOONE COUNTY, Mo. - Boone County deputies are working to figure out what started a car fire early Wednesday morning.
Emergency crews first responded to the scene in the 1100 block of Elizabeth Street around 12:30 a.m.
A deputy on scene told ABC 17 News the fire appears suspicious since it originated in the back of the vehicle near the fuel tank.
Nearby residents reportedly told deputies they were awoken by the sounds of explosions, but do not know who the vehicle belongs to.
Right now, it is unclear what started the fire.
