COLUMBIA, Mo. -

An early Saturday morning structure fire is under investigation.

A total of nine emergency units responded to a fire in the 800 block of West Boulevard around 5 a.m. Saturday. Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home when they arrived.

Crews say the fire had extended to parts of the attic, but firefighters were able to put out the flames in about ten minutes. Firefighters remained on the scene of an hour to check the ceilings and walls for hidden flames.

The resident of the home was not injured.

The fire remains under investigation by the fire marshal and there was no damage estimate immediately available.
