JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -

Lincoln University announced Thursday it will waive application fees to the school for displaced RR Donnelley workers.

On Aug. 1, the company announced it would close its Jefferson City facility, leaving around 500 employees without jobs.

University president Dr. Kevin Rome says the school will waive the $20 fee to apply for the fall 2013 and spring 2014 semesters. The school's fall semester does not begin until Mon., Aug. 26. and the waiver applies for RR Donnelley employees and their dependents.

“It is important that each organization within this community find a way to be of assistance to these families during this difficult time," said Dr. Rome in a statement. "Lincoln University welcomes the employees of RR Donnelley as they look to begin a new chapter in their lives.”

Lincoln says it will also provide financial aid guidance to anyone needing monetary assistance.

"We want the workers of RR Donnelley to understand that the door is always open," said Dr. Rome.

RR Donnelley employees can find more information on the Lincoln University website.
