CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. - A man has been charged with stealing more than $750 in Camden County after he was accused of taking propane tanks.
The Osage Beach Police Department took a report of a stolen 1,000 gallon propane tank on Jan. 23. The victim said the tank was valued at $2,500.
The victim told officers he had heard of similar thefts from other propane dealers in the area.
The Morgan County Sheriff's Department had previously identified Christopher Closterman as a suspect in a propane tank theft after he had listed the stolen tank on social media for sale.
Police said they made contact with Closterman who denied stealing any propane tanks.
According to the probable cause statement, Closterman has a criminal history of stealing, including guns, as well as a history of receiving stolen property and drug offenses.
