Mayor of Ashland to remain in position
Gene Rhorer had sent letter of resignation to the city Wednesday
The mayor of Ashland will remain in his role, a day after he had sent a letter to the city stating he was resigning "effective immediately."
Gene Rhorer submitted his resignation letter to the city Wednesday, but Ashland city officials confirm Rhorer rescinded his resignation on Thursday.
ABC 17 News has requested a copy of the letter he sent to the Board of Aldermen to rescind his resignation.
His resignation would have been the latest in a series of political challenges for the city. Earlier this week, the Board of Aldermen moved to impeach a member who was suspended in September.
Rhorer took over in July after then-mayor Michael Jackson resigned. Rhorer was the Ward 1 Alderman before becoming mayor.
