In addition to the Salute to America celebration in Jefferson City starting Thursday, Columbia will begin their Independence Day celebration at 6:30 p.m. on Friday with live music at Peace Park and Flat Branch Park.

Live entertainment will continue until around 9:00 p.m. leading up to the fireworks at around 9:15 which are discharged from the 6th and Cherry St. parking garage. 

Parking will be free in the District and in all MU and city parking lots and garages. 

However, streets around the 6th and Cherry garage will be closed at 7:00 p.m., including 5th, 6th, Cherry, and Locust.

Locust at Providence, Elm from 5th to 6th, and 4th at Locust to Cherry will be closed at 3:00 p.m. Friday.

Other celebrations around the area:

Rocheport will host Fireworks on the Bluff at Les Bourgeois Vineyards starting at 5:00 p.m., with the fireworks at dusk.

Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach will display fireworks on Friday night from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., which will be viewable by water at the 26 mile marker.

Versailles will host their 4th of July Celebration at Versailles City Park with fireworks at dusk Friday night.

Eldon will host 4th of July events downtown and at the Eldon Air Park starting with a 5k Run at 7:00 a.m. Friday and vendors at noon. Fireworks begin at dusk from the park.

The Lodge of 4 Seasons will host their 4th of July celebration starting at 6:00 with fireworks beginning after 8:00 p.m. in Lake Ozark. Those fireworks will be viewable at the 13 mile marker.

Sedalia will host Old Fashioned Fourth of July with a parade beginning at 10:00 a.m. and activities starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Missouri State Fair Grandstand with the fireworks in the evening. 

Moberly will host fireworks at Rothwell Park around 9:15 p.m.
