MILLER COUNTY, Mo - A Miller County resident, Kellie Quillen, has been charged with stealing thousands of dollars from a disabled man.
The victim reported to authorities he believed a home health care provider, Quillen, may have been stealing money from his checking account.
The victim noticed odd debit card purchases and two ATM withdrawals in February, causing him to cancel his card. During the summer, he noticed his bank account was overdrawn, a problem he had never had before.
Family members checked the victim's account and found large numbers of checks issued to Quillen and checks issued to other health care providers, endorsed as payable to Quillen.
The victim stated Quillen had access to his checkbook because of her duties assisting him to pay bills and payroll for his workers.
Quillen allegedly admitted to purchasing personal items at stores using the victim's card, for which she did not have permission.
According to the probable cause statement, Quillen admitted to stealing thousands of dollars from the victim and forging his name.
Quillen has been charged with financial exploitation of a person with a disability, multiple counts of forgery, stealing and a few counts of fraudulent use of a credit device.
