JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -

After fights involving teenagers broke out at last week's Thursday Night Live event, organizers have imposed new age restrictions.

Officials say police had to break up a fight involving 30 to 50 teenagers.

The fights, combined with the fear of possible underage drinking, prompted planners to start the event's new 16 years of age and older rule.

"We want to make sure that people understand that this is an adult event, that is family friendly," Thursday Night Live organizer Jill Snodgrass said. "Kids under 16, we encourage you to come out, be with your family. But, parents need to keep tabs on their kids."

Snodgrass said event staff will be checking IDs and the new rule requires any teenager under 16 to be accompanied by a parent in order to gain admittance into the event.

Organizers say the event has six security personnel and three community resource officers patrolling the area along with Jefferson City police officers.
