One injured after motorcycle crash near Finger Lakes State Park, firefighters say

Firefighters use basket stretcher for rescue

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. - Boone County firefighters responded to a motorcycle crash near Highway 63 and Peabody Road around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, according to online dispatch records. A portion of the right lane on Highway 63 northbound was closed.

Firefighters at the scene said a motorcyclist crashed in the trails of Finger Lakes State Park.

Crews had to figure out how to get the injured motorcyclist out of the trail without injuring them more, firefighters said.

Firefighters said they were having an issue getting the motorist out safely because the trails were so hilly.

Crews used a basket stretcher to carry the motorist through the woods, and once they got closer to the highway where the firetrucks were, they attached the stretcher to a rope on a truck for precaution, firefighters said.

Once the stretcher was attached, several first responders carried the stretcher up a hill and got them to safety, ABC 17 News crews said.

ABC 17 News crews then saw the first responders carry the stretcher into an ambulance at the scene.

Crews were at the scene for a little more than an hour.
