Governor's security detail to remain same under Greitens

Highway patrol troopers assigned to division

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - UPDATE 3:54 p.m.: ABC 17 News has confirmed with the Missouri State Highway Patrol that security will now be provided for Governor Elect Greitens' wife, Sheena Greitens, the First Lady Elect.

Since election night, Greitens has had a security detail. The First Lady Elect and the rest of the first family have not. In light of the robbery Monday night, the Greitens family will all have a security detail.


More than a dozen troopers make up the Governor's Security Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol

The division's webpage outlines its responsibilities.

"The Governor's Security Division is responsible for the transportation, security and protection of the Governor and his immediate family. The division is a member of the National Governor's Security Association, and provides protection services to visiting governors and other officials. This division assists the U.S. Secret Service when the President or any of its protectees visit the state," the page says.

A 2015 job posting for a position on the governor's security detail said applicants, "must possess at least three consecutive years as a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol."
