JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -

The State of Missouri is responding to Mississippi River flooding by sandbagging the river at Clarksville.

The river is expected to crest at Clarksville next week.

Fifty Missouri Department of Corrections prisoners will help with the downtown sandbagging efforts in Clarksville on Saturday.

They'll be joined by members of the Governor's Faith-Based and Community Service Partnership for Disaster Recovery.

Highway Patrol is also bringing in additional law enforcement and other assistance to the area.

The state has been working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to assist in the response effort.
