Mid-Missouri Volunteers Return from Haiti

Group helps start pediatric hospital

A group of Mid-Missouri professional returned from Haiti this weekend after helping the devastated country accomplish a major feat.

The volunteers set up the country's first pediatric hospital since the quake in mid-January.

 

About 50-75 volunteers helped with this particular hospital in north Haiti.

 

One volunteer ABC 17 News talked to said there is a still a need for supplies.

Rick Baker from Columbia said the best way to help the pediatric hospital is to donate.

 

"Typically we lost several patients for not having supplies we needed to transport them or take care of them," says Baker.

 

Baker plans to return to Haiti in March.

He told ABC 17 News the group is working to bring together other professionals like psychologists and psychiatrists.
