Toyota owners can now get their gas pedal systems fixed at local dealers.

ABC 17 News checked in with Joe Machens Toyota in Columbia. Its service department will be staying open late until 8 p.m. during the week and until six o'clock on Saturday to fix the problem in recalled cars for free.

Customers don't need an appointment but should expect to spend about an hour at the shop. Joe Machens Toyota says it's getting hundreds of the new parts in each morning.

"They'll be automatically allocated until demand drops off, then at some point, we'll have to order them as we think we'll need them," Service Manager Jim Sasser said.
The company recalled eight models after reports that the accelerator pedals were sticking.
