Columbia police are warning citizens to watch out for an e-mail-based scam that has been circulating for the last four years.

A Columbia man recently got the e-mail, which claims to be from a hired hitman. The sender says they will call off the deal and not kill the recipient if the recipient sends money.

Police say this scam started back in 2006. You can find more information by clicking the link provided. The information comes from Snopes, a website that debunks scams, rumors and urban legends.
