Two men are facing drug-related charges after their arrests during a traffic stop Thursday night north of Columbia.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department says a deputy stopped the car driven by 23-year-old Soeum Lem of Columbia for improper registration. During the stop, the deputy reported recognizing a strong marijuana odor coming from the vehicle and upon investigating, found the drug and related paraphernalia in the car.
The deputy says Lem admitteed to having marijuana and surrendered it. A search also uncovered a bag with white pills believed to be Percocet and some cash. Lem was then arrested for possession with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and a traffic summons. His bond was set at $5,500.
A passenger in the car, 22-year-old Chuot Sem of Hallsville was arrested for possession of marijuana and had his bond set at $500. A third person in the car, 23-year-old Tamela Goolsby of Columbia, was arrested for an outstanding municipal failure-to-appear warrant. Her bond was set by the city at $172.50.
Lem and Sem have bonded out of jail.
