Columbia Police Find Body

Columbia Police believe they found the body of Eddie Acosta, who was last seen at the end of May.


Jul 3, 2010 - No Foul Play Suspected

Columbia Police tell us a hiker found the remains. No foul play is suspected. Investigators think he may have fallen, because there is such a steep drop off in the area he was found.   Posted by Kristie Reeter


Jul 3, 2010 - Autopsy Scheduled for Monday

More details are coming in on the body found in Columbia. We now know University of Missouri Police contacted Columbia Police when they found human skeletal remains in a wooded area behind 1411 Rock Quarry Road. The remains were located in a creek bed at the base of several large bluffs. Officers searched the top of the bluffs and located a hat, cell phone and a bag containing paperwork belonging to Acosta. Acosta was released from the hospital on May 28 and reported missing on May 30th. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. A positive identification will be made pending the results of the autopsy.   Posted by Kristie Reeter

Columbia Police have found a body they believe to be that of Eddie Acosta who has been missing since the end of May.

 

The body was located Friday night near Rock Quary and Stadium, not too far from University Hospital, where he was last seen.

 

At this point police tell us they cannot for sure say that it is Acosta, but items found near the body make them think it is him.

 

The medical examiner currently has the body and will be using dental records to make a positive id.
