A Vienna woman died Saturday night after the boat she was riding in was hit by another boat. It happened at around 9:40 p.m. on the Osage River near Lisletown.
Officials say 82-year-old Norma Sandbothe was floating downstream in a pontoon with seven other people. The craft was tied to another pontoon with nine people on board. A third boat owned and operated by a Jefferson City man struck Sandbothe's boat in the stern, causing heavy damage.
Sandbothe died from her injuries. It's the third fatality on Missouri waters over the holiday weekend. A 30-year-old Kansas man drowned after jumping off a bridge more than 60 feet over the water, and a teenager from Illinois drowned in a river in Carter County.
