Several key testimonies are expected Thursday as a convicted murderer fights for a new trial.
Wednesday marked day two of Dale Helmig's court hearing, when a former Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper recanted testimony he gave 14 years ago that helped convict Helmig. The trooper said then that Helmig never denied killing his mother Norma, but Wednesday he said that wasn't true, and that Helmig did deny the killing.
Helmig was convicted in 1996 for the 1993 killing.
The court hearing, which will decide whether or not Helmig will be given a new trial, should wrap up by the end of the week. Helmig himself is expected to take the stand before it's over.
