New jobs are coming to Columbia and it could mean the growth for more businesses in Columbia.

Thursday, Carfax announced it will expand the current data center on Maguire Boulevard, bringing around 50 additional jobs.

The company, which began in Columbia, provides used car buyers and sellers with information on cars.

Company officials say with cramped space already and business on the rise, the 10,000 square foot expansion of the current building is possible.

Carfax also bought property next door to expand the packed lot. The addition will go on the back of the building.

The company will be paying for all that construction on their own.

Currently in the special session lawmakers tried to add incentives for data centers, like Carfax, along with the bill that's aimed at incentives for the Ford plant.

While the data centers did not make the cut, Carfax does plan on participating in another incentive through the Missouri Quality Jobs Program, giving them a partial refund of payroll taxes.

With this expansion REDI Chairman, Dave Griggs, says this can only mean good things for other companies looking to come to Columbia, saying potential companies will see that businesses already here are choosing to stay.
