Sweetener Maker to Open Moberly Plant

The state allowed Mamtek International offered nearly $18 million in tax incentives to open the plant.

MOBERLY - A company that makes artificial sweetener
plans to open a production facility in Moberly with the help of
about $54 million of state and local incentives.
   

Mamtek International, which is based in Hong Kong, makes a
sucralose sweetener sold under the name Sweet-O.
   

The company plans to hire 312
workers over the next 18 months.
   

Gov. Jay Nixon said Friday that the plant could eventually have
612 employees.
   

Mamtek is getting $17.6 million of state incentives, including
$14.4 million of tax credits.
   

The city of Moberly is providing an additional $37 million in
bond sales.
