Columbia Police are on alert, as the concerts continue in downtown Columbia.

Wednesday 2,200 people came out for Summerfest, which happens once a month at Ninth Street, between Walnut and Broadway.

Thursday there was a concert inside the Blue Note in that same area.

And Friday, another outside concert will have Snoop Dogg performing.  That concert is expected to see the largest crowd, with 2,500 people.

Police tell us dealing with big events really aren't a problem when they're working with a good event staff, and they say that's the case when working with the Blue Note.

Still patrols will be up.  The six officers on the downtown unit will be out and extra officers will also be stained in the downtown area to help.

They tell us so far this summer the only problems with outside concerts have been minor, such as open container violations.

That's why for Friday's event there isn't to much concern, just precautionary steps.

Police say with that many people expected to be downtown, parking may be cramped.

Gates open at 6pm.
