Prosecutors have charged a Mexico, Mo., lawyer in the June hit-and-run death of Richard Cobb.
Cobb was riding a lawnmower in the 800 block of North Jefferson in Mexico, according to court documents, when a Chevrolet suburban struck the machine. Cobb was taken to University Hospital in Columbia, where he later died.
James A. Clampitt, 38, was charged in Audrain County Friday with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.
A probable cause statement said Clampitt had been drinking prior to the accident involving Cobb.
