UPDATE: Police believe speed, alcohol and/or drugs factors in life-threatening crash

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. - UPDATE 1/17: Columbia police have identified the man taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after the Tuesday night crash.  

Officers said Dylan Bebeszko, 22, was driving a Ford that was traveling north when the passenger side tires went into a  snow covered ditch. 

The Ford went airborne, hit a stop sign, went into a resident's yard and struck a tree. 

Police believe speed alcohol and/or drugs are factors in the cause of the crash. 

Bebeszko was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred. 

ORIGINAL STORY: A car crash in Boone County has caused at least one person to be transported to a hospital.

The Columbia Fire Department said the driver was removed from the car with life-threatening injuries.

Police and fire crews are blocking Weymeyer Drive at the intersection with Brown Station Road.

The Columbia Fire Department tweeted pictures at the scene and said they were "working on accident with extrication."



Police are investigating how the crash happened.
