Daily Forecast

Warm and windy Tuesday, with strong storms by evening

TUESDAY:  As you're waking up this morning you may notice it's a bit warmer outside.  Lows are sitting anywhere from the low to mid 50s and it's all thanks to increasing clouds and breezy southerly winds. Through the day, despite the cloud coverage, we'll see temperatures rapidly warm into the lower 80s. Southerly winds at 12-20 mph will gust as high as 35 mph at times. There is a chance for a spot shower this morning across Mid-Missouri, but it remains on the low side.

TONIGHT: By this evening an approaching cold front will bring the risk of strong to severe storms.  The line of storms is expected to approach Hwy 65 between 10-11PM  as it gradually works its way from southwest to northeast.  The activity really ramps up as we approach 1-2AM, when the best ingredients are in place for strong to severe storms to develop.  You'll want to make sure you have some form of communication this evening as severe warned storms are possible overnight. There is currently a marginal risk for severe storms for the possibility of large hail or damaging wind gusts with these storms.

EXTENDED: The slow moving cold front will move east through Wednesday, giving us a chance of storms from late morning through the afternoon with the best chance of strong to severe storms along and east of HWY 63. Temperatures will fall during day Wednesday as this front moves through and winds shift to the northwest. It will be cooler and mainly dry Thursday with highs only near 60. Another round of rain is expected Thursday night into Friday morning and yet another Friday night into Saturday. It will warm to near 70 Friday and Saturday with more rain and storm chances Saturday afternoon through early Sunday.  As of now, it looks like we could see 2-5 inches of rain from Tuesday through Sunday with highest totals near I-44 and lowest in our northwest counties. Please check back for updates and follow ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter and ABC17News on Facebook for updates as well.
