TAMPA, Fla. -- There must be something about Tampa Bay that brings the best out in Sidney Crosby.
The Penguins center posted his eighth career hat trick in helping Pittsburgh to a 5-4 victory over the Lightning on Saturday night at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
In doing so, Crosby extended his point streak against the Lightning to six games. During the streak, he has seven goals and five assists.
Penguins defenseman Matt Niskanen scored the winning goal on a power play with 19 seconds left in regulation on a slap shot off an assist by Paul Martin.
Crosby's third goal of the night gave the Penguins a 4-3 lead at 10:26 in the third period when he received a pass from behind the Lightning end line and sent a slap shot past Tampa Bay goalie Anders Lindback.
Tampa Bay's Alex Killorn evened the score at 16:58 of the third period with his second goal of the season off a pass from Richard Panik.
After the Lightning had taken a 3-2 lead into the third period, Crosby tied the score with his second goal of the night when he redirected a slap shot by Rob Scudari early in the third.
