Lee's Summit junior quarterback Drew Lock committed to Missouri, adding to an already accomplished recruiting month for Gary Pinkel's staff.
""I could have gone to other schools," the newest Tiger commit said. "But I don't feel like the true family so to say would be behind me at any other school but Missouri."
Lock threw for 3,062 yards and 35 touchdowns for the Lee's Summit Tigers. He chose Missouri over Ohio State, Michigan State and Tennessee.
Lock pledged his commitment Wednesday night at Summit Grill in Lee's Summit. He is a four-star recruit and the No. 2 prospect in the state according to Rivals. Lock's father, Andy, is a former Missouri football player and part-owner of the restaurant.
""He's a mature kid," the elder Lock said of his son. "He did a real nice job of sorting through it and coming up with questions he needed to ask me that we bounced off each other. We came to a decision together and it is a great decision. I am very very happy."
"He did walk out in the stadium," Drew pointed out when talking about his father's Missouri career. "To think so many years later that I am going to do that is surreal."
The 6-foot-3 quarterback is also a standout basketball player. He garnered Division-I interest from basketball programs before committing to play football. Now, he will spend the rest of his high school career recruiting other stars. Lock is already trying to get two Mid-Missouri stars to commit to the Tigers.
"I have a group message with (Rock Bridge's) Alex Ofodile and (Helias') Hale Hentges now," Lock said. And we have been shooting some text messages back and fourth. So I plan on tweeting about how I am going to (Mizzou's) spring game soon and hopefully getting some guys there."
Lock is the third premier commitment for Missouri this month. On Tuesday, East St. Louis running back Natereace Strong committed to the Tigers. On April 1, Blue Valley offensive lineman AJ Harris said he will head to Missouri for college.
The 2015 class also includes junior college running back Chase Abbington and Lee's Summit West running back Ryan Williams.
