Cardinals 8, Orioles 3

BALTIMORE -- Kolten Wong tied a career high with four hits, Peter Bourjos homered and St. Louis Cardinals avoided a three-game sweep.

Baltimore manager Buck Showalter was ejected in the seventh inning by second base umpire Jeff Nelson on a reversed call after a Cardinals challenge.

Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn was effective containing Baltimore's powerful lineup. He limited the Orioles to three runs with nine hits, six strikeouts and a walk in 5 2/3 innings.

Rangers 6, Astros 2

HOUSTON -- The Texas Rangers capitalized on a sloppy defensive performance by Houston and averted a series sweep.

The Astros were charged with only one error, but a series of miscues greased the skids to an end of their seven-game winning streak against the Rangers.

Houston left-hander Dallas Keuchel uncorked a pair of wild pitches while his teammates surrendered extra bases with unsound decisions against aggressive Texas baserunners.
