COLUMBIA, Mo. - It was a special day for Steve Goodwin. Yes, his Gremlins captured the Class 2 state title. But he also go to celebrate with family on the bench.

"It's my son's birthday today," Goodwin said after Sacred Heart (31-0) completed its undefeated season. "He's eight years old. I couldn't ask for anything better than to coach these young men that I coach and to share it with my family and my son's birthday"

Sacred Heart came back in the fourth quarter, outscoring Iberia 28-7. Chase Lyles led the way with 19 points while Jaime Villalobos had 16 points and 14 rebounds.

The Gremlins are the first boys team to end the season with a perfect record since Sikeston did it in 2011.

"It is always the ultimate goal," said senior Stefan Cox. "It is always something you dream about as a kid. It is just unbelievable. The feeling is just amazing. We worked so hard for it. And we just did it."

Iberia finishes the season 29-2. The Rangers could not capitalize on the momentum from the semifinal win at Hearnes Center, when Darrien Dickey scored on a last-second tip-in. The senior guard scored 12 points for Iberia in Saturday's game.
