Mike Alden addresses the state of MU athletics

COLUMBIA - Missouri athletic director met with a handful of local reporters Wednesday, outlining different projects the athletic department is undertaking while also taking questions.

Among the facility upgrades is a new softball stadium and a new indoor complex for football. Alden adds Mizzou Arena will get a new video board and are working to renovate the locker room for the basketball teams.

The MU athletic director said the long term goal will also be to take down the Hearnes Center, but could not provide a time frame.

He also touched on the off-field incidents with MU athletes. Missouri has seen a variety of run-ins with the law, with athletes like Dorial Green-Beckham and Zach Price being dismissed from their respective teams. When asked if Missouri has an image problem, Alden said, "Overall, is there an image problem? I wouldn't say that." He adds it is "imperative" the athletic department communicates with its student-athletes and staff about proper conduct on and off campus.
