Home runs cause demise for Mizzou softball against Nebraska

Mizzou softball bows out of the NCAA championship

COLUMBIA, Mo. - On Sunday, the Mizzou softball team needed to win one game against Nebraska to win the Columbia Regional title.

The Nebraska softball team hit seven home runs to beat Missouri twice, 11-4 then 8-1 to win the Regional Title and move to the Super Regional against Alabama.

In the first game of the day, Alora Marble started for Mizzou in the circle. The second batter, Hailey Decker, hits a two run home run.

At the top of the third, Mizzou takes a 3-2 lead.

Then at the bottom of the inning, the Huskers go on a seven run streak jumping ahead 9-3.

At the bottom of the fourth inning, Nebraska's Taylor Edwards hits another homer and by the top of the fifth, Nebraska is up 11-3.

Avoiding the run rule, Mizzou scores one more run, but held off at come back and loses 11-4.

In the second game for the Regional Title, Casey Stangel is in as the starting pitcher and Decker hits another two run home run.

Kiki Stokes adds a three run homer of her own to give Nebraska a 5-0 lead.

Mizzou's Kelsea Roth hits a home run through center field.

Nebraska's offense held strong and would score three more runs over the Tigers, winning the Regional Title 8-1.
