Outfield wall-scaling cat delays Marlins game

Gray cat runs onto field, climbs into sculpture

A gray cat in the outfield stole the show Tuesday night at Marlins Park.

The cat ran onto the field midway through the Marlins' game against the Atlanta Braves and soon captivated the crowd.

It crouched down under the padding on the outfield wall and then scurried away along the warning track from Marlins' right fielder Giancarlo Stanton.

After reaching the center field wall, it scaled a video board before climbing into the stadium's animatronic home run sculpture.

Team president David Samson said after the game that if the Marlins had hit another home run during the game, the sculpture would not have been activated for fear of harming the cat, according to The Associated Press.

Marlins center fielder Marcell Ozuna, who hit two home runs in the 8-4 victory over the Braves, told the AP he saw the cat stay in the sculpture for four innings but didn't see it during the game's last inning.
